Four categories, what each one does, and exactly what stops working if you turn it off.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser so it can recognise the same browser on the next request. This page also covers related browser storage — local storage and session storage — which do similar jobs. Everything below applies to all of them.

Cookies set by thundr.mobi are ours. Some are set by providers we use for things like payment processing and analytics; those are third-party cookies, and the provider’s own policy governs them.

What we use, and what breaks without it

Rather than list individual cookie names — they change whenever a dependency does, and a stale list would be worse than none — here are the categories and their honest consequences.

Strictly necessary

Required

What it does: Keeping you signed in, remembering your session between pages, protecting against fraud and cross-site request forgery, and load balancing.

If you block it: The service stops working. You cannot sign in, and a call cannot be set up.

Preferences

Optional

What it does: Remembering choices you have made — language, and interface settings you have changed.

If you block it: Everything still works; the site simply forgets your settings each visit.

Analytics

Optional

What it does: Understanding which pages get used and where people get stuck, generally in aggregate rather than individually.

If you block it: No effect on you. We see less about how the site is used.

Advertising and measurement

Optional

What it does: Measuring whether a visit came from a campaign, so we know which ones are worth running.

If you block it: No effect on you.

Controlling them

Every browser lets you see what a site has stored, delete it, and block future storage. On a phone this usually lives under Settings for the browser, then Privacy, then something like "Cookies and site data" or "Manage website data".

Safari (iOS) — Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data, and Block All Cookies under Privacy & Security.
Chrome (Android) — Chrome menu → Settings → Site settings → Cookies.
Any browser — a private or incognito window discards everything when you close it.

Blocking the strictly necessary category will prevent you from signing in. That is not a design choice on our part — a session cookie is how a browser proves it is the same one that signed in a moment ago.

Camera and microphone are not cookies. They are separate browser permissions, granted per site and revocable at any time in the same settings area — see the privacy policy.
